The Providence County Sheriffs Office is a division of the Rhode Island State Sheriffs Department.There are two court facilities in Providence County. The J. Joseph Garrahy Judicial Complex home to the 6th Division District Court (Serving Providence and Bristol Counties), Workers Compensation Court (Statewide), Providence Family Court, and one Superior Courtroom. The Frank J. Licht Judicial Complex is home to the Rhode Island Supreme Court and Providence County Superior Courtrooms.

The statewide Inmate Transportation Unit, the Providence County Writ Unit and the Statewide Body Attachment Unit are also located in Providence County at the Pastore Complex in Cranston.
